ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.
The successful candidate should have a strong record of excellent research in physical and/or synthetic biology. It is expected that candidates are actively involved in interdisciplinary research and open for mathematical approaches. Candidates should be able to develop an innovative research program in topics, such as spatio-temporal dynamics of biological systems, organization of cells, bioimaging, synthetic cells, orthogonal biosystems, or minimal genomes. The establishment of internationally competitive extramurally funded research projects is expected. The Faculty of Biology is located in the Biozentrum of the High-Tech Campus Martinsried, together with other Life Sciences at LMU, the Max-Planck-Society and the Helmholtz-Zentrum München. Within the Faculty of Biology core facilities for Light Microscopy, Electron Microscopy, Bioanalytics, Genomics, Proteomics and Metabolomics are available.
