We offer a position for our research project “Digi3D” to systematically investigate inflammatory lung and brain diseases on the tissue level. Central to the project is the exploitation of label-free photonic signals in tissue to obtain new visualisation tools (“digital stains”) for 3D-tissue diagnostics. To this end, we will use light sheet microscopy combined with analytical and modern machine learning techniques.

The research group Innovative Microscopy Technologies at the Institute of Neuropathology is equipped with a wide range of advanced microscopy systems, and a high-performance computing platform

The successful applicant must have:

  • a PhD in life or medical sciences, such as biology, (bio)chemistry, or equivalent field
  • experience with advanced fluorescence microscopy techniques
  • a good understanding of the principles of fluorescence and its detection
  • experience with basic image processing/analysis tasks (ImageJ, FIJI) is of advantage
  • excellent organisational and reporting skills.
  • a creative personality, enjoying team work
