About the ELMI

ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.

The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research (MPI for Brain Research) in Frankfurt/Main is a vibrant research institution in the field of basic biological and medical research, with a focus on understanding the functions of the brain’s circuits. Our institute has approx. 300 employees in three research departments and four research groups, as well as several service units.

The state-of-the-art imaging facility strongly supports the scientists in our institute with high ex-pertise and the latest equipment providing various types of modern microscopes and optical methods. In addition to our support of the ongoing scientific work at our institute, we are developing and implementing cutting-edge tools in the areas of optics and microscopy to advance the research beyond what is currently possible.
