ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.
An unprecedented number of scientific efforts are taking place worldwide in order to help combat the new coronavirus epidemic (COVID-19). One of the biggest challenges in this fast-moving situation is to share data and findings in a coordinated way, in order to understand the disease and to develop treatments and vaccines.
To address this challenge, EMBL-EBI has set up the COVID-19 Portal, which will bring together relevant datasets submitted to EMBL-EBI and other major centres for biomedical data. The aim is to facilitate data sharing and analysis, and to accelerate coronavirus research.
The COVID-19 Portal www.ebi.ac.uk/covid-19 will enable researchers to upload, access and analyse COVID-19 related reference data and specialist datasets.
In the first instance, as the COVID-19 Portal is being built, all COVID-19 data stored at EMBL-EBI is being aggregated into a dedicated page on the Pathogen Portal. EMBL-EBI expects that during April, a first version of the COVID-19 Portal will be live. Watch www.ebi.ac.uk/covid-19 for updates
