ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.
Euro-BioImaging ERIC (www.eurobioimaging.eu) is a leading pan-European research infrastructure that provides the research community open access to cutting-edge imaging services. The Euro-BioImaging Bio-Hub hosted by European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) is looking for a highly motivated FAIR Image Data Steward to develop general guidelines and technically support imaging projects with data and metadata handling, and data management as part of the Image Data Services of Euro-BioImaging.
An important task of Euro-BioImaging is to build and offer image data services to the research community. The individual Euro-BioImaging Nodes assist their users in data management, quality control, analysis and transfer to home base as well as advice to fulfil the user’s data management plan (according to FAIR principles: https://www.go-fair.org/fair-principles/ ). The Euro-BioImaging Bio-Hub at EMBL provides coordination of the Image Data Services and supports development of computational tools for image analysis and processing via the cloud. In the future, it plans to support its user projects with proper data and metadata handling ensuring the image data produced at the Nodes is FAIR and Open access for use and re-use by the community. This process will be facilitated by mobilising image data to the BioImage Archive (https://www.ebi.ac.uk/bioimage-archive/, hosted by EMBL-EBI), which is a new open image data resource. The provision of such powerful data services is of importance and high relevance to the users of the infrastructure as well as the life science communities at large.
