The current revolution in imaging approaches is driving the enhanced observation of biological processes in living tissue, primarily through the application of increasingly enhanced microscopic resolution. These new approaches, which bridge the gap between visible light and electron microscopy, are driving the biological translation from a single live cell to multicellular tissues. Such advancement is enabling opportunities for the pharmaceutical industry to adapt its pharmacological and hazard-based assessments, delivering patient relevant information earlier in the drug discovery/development pipeline.
This workshop will bring together academic and pharmaceutical industry-based scientists to explore both the biological and technical questions that define the requirements for the next generation of imaging development/application. Building on the EMBL’s leadership in developing critical advances to microscopy based imaging, both independently and in collaboration, the workshop will highlight the latest imaging advances and their application, enable peer-to-peer discussion to identify technological and biological gaps imaging needs to address, and provide opportunities for hands-on imaging use in the EMBL laboratories.
