ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.
The Laboratory of Enteric NeuroScience (LENS) and Cell Imaging Core is currently hiring:
Postdoctoral Researcher (or PhD student) in Neuroimaging – Neurophotonics
The Cell Imaging Core (CIC) at the University of Leuven is a collaborative network of scientists who are using fluorescence microscopy to investigate biological questions. The facility manages several advanced cell imaging systems (2-photon; single photon; spinning disk confocal microscopes, most of them designed for live cell and tissue imaging). Prof. Pieter Vanden Berghe, chairman of the facility, is also responsible for the Lab. for Enteric NeuroScience (LENS). Apart from studying the enteric nervous system that is localized in the gut wall and controls the different functions of the gastrointestinal tract, LENS also utilizes advanced microscopy tools to investigate neuronal function, including synaptic communication and axonal transport phenomena. Recently we have been implementing second harmonic imaging as a labelfree imaging technique to assess neuronal function.
