ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.
Label free live cell imaging techniques are becoming of increasing value, especially where there is a requirement for minimal cell perturbation and manipulation. Now, new techniques have been developed that permit greater information to be extracted from label free imaging, giving unique phenotypic markers. This has been applied to immunological, neurobiological, cancer and basic cell biology research.
