About the ELMI

ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.

Virtual conference: The Four-Dimensional Genome, EMBL Heidelberg, Germany

In an effort to prioritise our participants’ health while still promoting scientific exchange, we are hosting this event as a virtual meeting. This includes live streamed oral presentations from invited speakers, digital poster sessions and online group discussions.

Symposium Overview

We will discuss the principles that govern the three-dimensional folding of the genome in chromosomes and inside the nucleus. Our understanding of how this organisation controls genome function and how it changes over time, both in the context of the cell cycle and in the course of normal development is incomplete. Currently, the study of the spatial organisation of the genome is being revolutionised by new genomics and microscopy techniques. The computational analysis and modelling of such data are delivering new insights into genome structure and function.

This symposium will bring together latest advances in the fields of genomics, microscopy and modelling to foster their integration towards a comprehensive spatial and temporal understanding of the functional four-dimensional organisation of the eukaryotic genome.
