ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.
At the Department of Biomedicine, Aarhus University, Heath, we are looking for a new facility manager with an academic background for our imaging core facility. It is a permanent full-time position from 15 December 2020 or shortly thereafter.
We offer a vibrant international research environment where English is the preferred language in the laboratory, at meetings and at seminars. The Department employs some 450 people and covers a range of research areas within Biomedicine. Our infrastructure is well developed with modern laboratories, core and animal facilities. You will work either in the brand new ‘Skou Building’ or similar as we are in the process of modernizing our old facilities. You can read more about the department here and about the faculty here.
About the core facility and work description
The core facility was established in 2019 and have several high-end systems such as laser scanning confocals, spinning disk confocal, slide scanner, high content screening, multiphoton, and more. Currently we have more than 100 regular users, who all has been trained in different systems and software. We are looking for a dedicated person to participate in the further development of our imaging core facility. More information regarding the facility can be found at our homepage www.imaging.au.dk
As a facility manager, you will be responsible for both practical work at the microscopes and administratively related tasks. The work will therefore include introduction of new users at our different systems, maintenance of our homepage, contact to the vendors, make budget for the facility etc. Currently there is a student worker associated to help with paperwork and the booking system, and we hope to hire an extra person in the near future.
