ELMI was created in 2001 to establish a unique communication network between European scientists working in the field of light microscopy and the manufacturers of their equipment.
In the Institute of Cell Biology and Neurosciences of the Department of Biosciences at the Goethe-University Frankfurt am Main, in the working group Stelzer within the LOEWE exploration project “Barquito” there is a position as a
Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d)
available until 31.12.2023, starting as soon as possible. The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U).
In this project, a new approach for biological control of insect pests will be tested for its applicability in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum, in the Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus and in the bark beetle Ips typographus. The scientific goal is to reduce the fertility of these species using nanobodies, i.e. small intracellular functional antibodies.
A scientific university degree (Diplom or Master) and a very good PhD in biology, biophysics, biochemistry or biotechnology are compulsory. Furthermore, we expect excellent English skills and a good knowledge of molecular biology as well as good communication skills and high interest in interdisciplinary research. Experience with one or more of the above-mentioned species as well as other methods of biological control of insect pests is advantageous. We offer an inspiring working atmosphere as well as exciting and modern research topics that bridge theory and experiment. In addition, you will benefit from an excellent infrastructure.
Please send your application including a letter of motivation and CV until 10.05.2022 exclusively in electronic form as a summarized PDF file by email to Prof. Dr. Ernst Stelzer (firstname.lastname@example.org) and Dr. Frederic Strobl (email@example.com).
