available until 31.12.2023, starting as soon as possible. The salary grade is based on the job characteristics of the collective agreement applicable to Goethe University (TV-G-U).

In this project, a new approach for biological control of insect pests will be tested for its applicability in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum, in the Asian tiger mosquito Aedes albopictus and in the bark beetle Ips typographus. The scientific goal is to reduce the fertility of these species using nanobodies, i.e. small intracellular functional antibodies.

Recruitment requirements:

A scientific university degree (Diplom or Master) and a very good PhD in biology, biophysics, biochemistry or biotechnology are compulsory. Furthermore, we expect excellent English skills and a good knowledge of molecular biology as well as good communication skills and high interest in interdisciplinary research. Experience with one or more of the above-mentioned species as well as other methods of biological control of insect pests is advantageous.
