About MicRoN:

The MicRoN core at Harvard Medical School is a light microscopy core supporting a wide range of advanced imaging modalities. Our mission is to improve reproducibility and rigor in image-based science emphasizing education and support. We are thrilled to invite applications for a Microscopy Research Specialist position. In this position, you will be part of a diverse and enthusiastic team of microscopists to support and train our researchers in their imaging needs, ranging from bacterial cell biology, neurobiology, immune cell function, cancer immunotherapy, and the development of new tools and genetic models to investigate human disease, aging, and tissue architecture. MicRoN offers a collaborative and educational environment that fosters interactions and collaborations not only with the staff but with the members of the scientific community we support, strengthening personal and professional growth.

Position Description:

The MicRoN core at Harvard Medical School is seeking a Microscopy Research Specialist. The main duties for this position are to 1) Assist with and perform the general maintenance of the core and its instruments (including supporting and assisting the core facility staff with research projects, instrument maintenance, quality assessments and troubleshooting. 2) Actively interact with microscopy vendors to demo, update and repair the core microscopy systems, providing networking opportunities 3) Interact, communicate with and train research scientists to use our microscopes, and collaborate with them to facilitate and guide their imaging needs, providing expertise in image optimization and sample preparation. Additionally, participate in experiments/data collection for projects lead by the core or our collaborators 4) Assist the core staff with the preparation of training manuals including standard operating procedures, specific acquisition workflows and related documents to support and educate the core trainees 5) Perform administrative duties as needed (ordering, inventory, organization, website management…) 6) Assist the Director and core facility staff in organizing and teaching light microscopy courses and other core events.
