The Chan Zuckerberg Imaging Institute is seeking an experienced Scientist, Sample Labeling , to help develop new genetically encoded labels to facilitate next generation correlative cryo EM tomography-fluorescence microscopy. The goal is to have a minimally perturbing genetically encoded tag on the protein of interest that under small molecule control can be linked to a cryo-EM and fluorescent microscopy visible object.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement new constructs for genetically encoded correlative light microscopy-cryoEM tomography labels
• Express, purify and validate the designs in vitro
• Collaborate with researchers to assess utility of the label designs for on-going biological projects
• Revise designs as required
• Keep abreast of the latest developments in labeling and implement new ideas as appropriate
• Write technical reports and publications to document new findings and techniques

What You’ll Bring

• An MS or PhD degree in a field of biological science
• Extensive experience in molecular biology, protein expression, and related techniques
• Extensive experience in mammalian cell culture and fluorescence microscopy
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
