Topic: microglial heterogeneity in tau pathology
The Laboratory for Cell Biology and Histology at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences is seeking to fill a full-time (100%) vacancy for a post-doctoral scientist in the area of Neuroscience.
Job description
Within the Laboratory of Cell Biology and Histology (www.uantwerpen.be/en/rg/celw/), our research team (www.uantwerpen.be/cell-group/) aims at understanding accelerated aging
(e.g., Progeria) and age-related (e.g., Alzheimer) disease development from a cell biological perspective. Recently, we have used whole brain imaging, based on tissue clearing and light sheet microscopy, to stage tau pathology in a seeded mouse model (Detrez et al 2019). We thereby identified a unique microglial response, which we now intend to characterize in more detail using a combination of molecular and microscopic single cell approaches. We are therefore looking for a positive and skilled colleague who is eager to take the lead in this new, challenging study. As the Laboratory of Cell Biology and Histology also runs the Microscopy Core Facility (https://www.uantwerpen.be/en/research-groups/celw/acam/), the
successful applicant will benefit from access to cutting-edge microscopy infrastructure.
