The Department of Biology, Faculty of Science at University of Copenhagen (UCPH) is seeking to hire an enthusiastic and talented postdoc to contribute towards high-resolution imaging and multi-omic studies in the area of host-microbiota interactions in the gut.
The position is available for a 2-year period. The position is commencing on July 1, 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter.
The scientific environment
The position is available at the Section of Microbiology, which offers a highly diverse and inclusive environment consisting of ≈35 researchers that specialize in studying microbial community interactions, biofilms, horizontal gene transfer, and the early life human microbiome. We apply cutting-edge molecular techniques including high throughput DNA/RNA sequencing, cell-sorting, single-cell detection, and collaborate with leading national and international microbiome researchers and clinical experts in childhood diseases. The section is headed by Professor Søren Johannes Sørensen, and members are committed towards collaboration and supporting the career development of new investigators as they transition to independent research careers.
The candidate will have unrestricted access to our in-house infrastructure (e.g., ZEISS LSM800 confocal microscope, Leica LMD7, Leica Cryostat, PacBio Sequel 2e, BD FACS Aria IIu) and the department core facilities, and interact closely with collaborators at external institutions as well as the vibrant and collegial UCPH scientific community.
